An inner North Sea: the grey swell rises in the frame, and the engraved wave rolls to the edge of the panel.

No pink here, no mauve: only the cold blues of a North Sea. The painted sea climbs the panel like a tide, and the wave extends into a scroll engraved directly onto the pine, running to the edge before escaping. The edge, painted midnight blue, gives the work the depth of deep water.

There are seas we never see, yet they stir within us. This one wanders between reality and memory: the engraving picks up where the painting leaves off, like a thought that continues after the sentence ends.
