A garland of garnet and dusty pink flowers descends against the black, like embroidery laid upon the evening.

Painted on a reclaimed vertical plank, this piece uses the grammar of folk painting—peonies, berries, scrolls—but in an autumn palette: deep garnet, faded pink, off-white. The flowers cascade from top to bottom, from closed buds to fully open corollas, to those beginning to come apart.

Autumn does not diminish beauty; it makes it truer. Femininity, here, is not youth: it is what remains when the light fades—the density, the memory, the softness that lingers against the black.
